{"id":2986,"date":"2020-08-07T11:07:34","date_gmt":"2020-08-07T11:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/2020\/08\/07\/issue-045\/"},"modified":"2020-08-07T11:07:34","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T11:07:34","slug":"issue-045","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/2020\/08\/07\/issue-045\/","title":{"rendered":"Issue #045"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Welcome to your weekly dose of TOO x TOO \u2013 Featuring Domino&#8217;s &#8216;Nice Karens&#8217;, Burberry&#8217;s social retail store, The Hoxton&#8217;s Camp Hox and Ikea launches fashion products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Free pizza for \u2018nice Karens\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Domino\u2019s Pizza has ditched a promotional offer after handing out free pizzas to \u2018nice\u2019 women named Karen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u2018Karen\u2019 moniker is increasingly being used to denote middle-aged white women displaying racist or obnoxious behviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But in New Zealand, the chain said it wanted to \u2018take the name back and celebrate all the nice Karens out there\u2019 by offering them free pizza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The offer however has been met with widespread outrage, with people saying it \u2018rewarded privilege\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Burberry open \u2018social retail\u2019 store<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.burberryplc.com\/en\/company\/social-retail.html\">Burberry<\/a>&nbsp;have opened their first \u201csocial retail\u201d store in China.&nbsp; The 5,800 square foot store combines a physical store experience with a digital one (via its new WeChat mini-program).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of the store\u2019s merchandise contains a tag with a QR code; the more codes are scanned and the more the customer interacts with Burberry, the more \u2018social currency\u2019 the customer receives. This includes being able to bring a digital animal character to life, access exclusive items from the cafe, and enter the \u201cTrench Experience\u201d (a special room where shoppers can try on Burberry\u2019s signature trench coats and create online content).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Via the mini-program, customers can contact customer service, receive exclusive content, share their own content, book a preferred fitting room (with adjustable lighting and a special playlist) and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Hoxton\u2019s pop-up staycation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With travel so uncertain hotel brand The Hoxton have created a branded pop-up for those looking to staycation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camphox.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Camp Hox<\/a>&nbsp;features 12 lotus tents fully equipped&nbsp;with everything any glamper could need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a great way for city hotels, suffering as a result of the pandemic, to capitalise on the outdoor travel opportunity while winning new legions of fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ikea have a fashion moment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A collaboration between Ikea Japan and Ikea Sweden sees the brand\u2019s first foray into fashion.
