{"id":3162,"date":"2022-07-25T17:12:40","date_gmt":"2022-07-25T17:12:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/2022\/07\/25\/issue-120\/"},"modified":"2022-07-25T17:12:40","modified_gmt":"2022-07-25T17:12:40","slug":"issue-120","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/2022\/07\/25\/issue-120\/","title":{"rendered":"Issue #120"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Welcome to your weekly dose of TooXToo, this week featuring Sims x Depop, Cadbury\u2019s glitchy campaign, Nissan\u2019s electrified art, and Spotify\u2019s \u2018greasy caf\u00e9\u2019\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Depop x Sims<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depop is bringing thrifting to the realm of gaming in partnership with Sims \u2013 enabling players to select their own clothing, and merchandise it to earn their own virtual currency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s the twist \u2013 this clothing that will be available for users to shop and wear will all be thrifted. Users will be able to re-sell their clothes in the game through a Sims app dubbed \u2018Trendi\u2019, replicating the same experience physical users have through Depop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depop are cleverly targeting teens \u2013 the most frequent users of this game with their new partnership. By selling second-hand in the virtual world, Depop hope they can encourage these users to shop second hand in the real world too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steve Dool, Depop\u2019s brand director commented: \u201cIf getting a Sim to shop secondhand from the in-game thrift shop encourages someone to do that for themselves IRL, that\u2019s an amazing, full-circle moment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"884\" height=\"444\" src=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_002.png\" class=\"wp-image-1587\" srcset=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_002.png 884w, https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_002-650x326.png 650w, https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_002-850x427.png 850w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 884px) 100vw, 884px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What Depop is actioning seems paradoxical given the fast-paced, constantly evolving nature of gaming in contrast to the slow, and more considered ethos that defines their brand. This is precisely why Depop are entering this virtual world \u2013 to appeal, and remain relevant to the increasingly digital world we live, work, and operate in. Looking outward, the brand hopes they can promote more ethical behaviour on, and offline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cadbury\u2019s glitchy campaign<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cadbury are celebrating the release of two limited-edition versions of the Dairy Milk bars with their new \u2018glitchy\u2019 billboards, designed to tease the un-announced chocolate flavours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"736\" src=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_003.jpeg\" class=\"wp-image-1588\" srcset=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_003.jpeg 1280w, https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_003-650x374.jpeg 650w, https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_003-850x489.jpeg 850w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From crinkled bus stop ads to glitchy digital posters, and social posts that freeze or don\u2019t fully load \u2013 Cadbury\u2019s are hoping to ramp up the suspense of their upcoming flavour launches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The campaign will run in the UK until mid-October across multiple formats- online and social, as well as different media partnerships, for example a digital audio campaign with Spotify.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The campaign has proved successful thus far in generating buzz and excitement through fostering anticipation \u2013 the participatory element is key to the campaign especially in the context of modern culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nissan\u2019s Electrified Art<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Nissan is the first car manufacturer to utilise the metaverse in the way that they have with their latest immersive experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This automobile brand has brought electrified brand stories to life to showcase their latest innovations. The artwork comprises Nissan\u2019s new all-electric ARIYA in five different city locations around the UK, with each piece creating an interactive and visual art experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_004.png\" class=\"wp-image-1589\" srcset=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_004.png 720w, https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_004-650x325.png 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collection of electrified artworks are also embedded with QR codes that enable users to experience Nissan\u2019s meta space. By scanning the code, you will be transported to Nissans electrified art landing page where you can enter the artwork portal, exploring the fully immersive, \u2018electrified city\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Nissan Ariya will be the focus of this city, appearing in the centre of the room while users have the opportunity to explore and appreciate the different artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Metaverse \u2013 the next iteration of the internet is affording brands new opportunities to showcase or bring their products to life in the virtual world. Nissan is one of the first automotor brands to enter the metaverse, utilising both 2D and 3D virtual reality infrastructure to immerse users in a new, \u2018electrified city\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Spotify\u2019s Greasy Caf\u00e9 experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intermingling music with caf\u00e9 culture, Spotify have launched their new pop up concept: \u2018Greasy Tunes\u2019\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kicking off at the beginning of this week \u2013 the caf\u00e9 located in Shoreditch showcased 9 podcasters, 8 artists, 4 DJ&#8217;s and hundreds of breakfasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1060\" height=\"437\" src=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_005.png\" class=\"wp-image-1590\" srcset=\"https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_005.png 1060w, https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_005-650x268.png 650w, https:\/\/content.theoneoff.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/TOOHBM_Issue120_005-850x350.png 850w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1060px) 100vw, 1060px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seed- Genz and student specialists worked on the campaign to ensure that the experience created was inspired by fan culture, amplified through a diverse collection of artists, as well as engaging IRL, and online social content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the project\u2019s key aims is to bring creators, and fans closer together. Not only will visitors be able to listen to the music and creators live, but they will have a chance to meet and mingle and tuck into some quintessentially British brekkie grub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The look and feel of the venue draws on the nostalgia, and social culture of London\u2019s older establishments. The more retro feel of this pop-up is akin to Ebay&#8217;s recent collaboration with Morleys also in Shoreditch.
